It’s increasingly frustrating the way the Australian media and politicians refer to the energy market as if it’s a normal commodity that you can choose to use or not use.
Energy generation and supply should never be in a market, it should be an essential government service but governments of all colours have repeatedly sold off asset after asset. The fact that the price of Australian domestic gas is linked to the export price was a failure by the government of the time.
Trying to decide what to name a new member of the device family is proving difficult. I have themes I use but I’ve grown attached to my iMac being called Holly (Red Dwarf) that I can’t decide what to name the replacement. I’ve already used Orac, Zen, Dr Theopolis & Number 5.
Decided to watch Doctor Who from the very first episode and work my way forward to the end of the old series. I’m quite looking forward to this, it’s been years since I watched the old episodes in a continuous way. I usually dip in and out.
Kicking off tonight with An Unearthly Child in which we get Susan explaining “Well I made up the name TARDIS from the initials, time and relative dimension in space”. 📺
Price caps for the Australian domestic energy market should have been part of the enabling legislation and permanently in place. We shouldn’t need to take “unusual steps”.
I wasn’t going to go this year but a decision to take some holidays in August and September had me dropping into the Lifeline book sale. Picked up a few books from authors I know but haven’t read.

Apple mail is truly awful at searching. It’s one of the reasons I stay on gmail.
If I could find a decent app and calendar for both iPhone and iMac I’d switch over to using my domain email with Apple given how badly Google have handled the transition of legacy G Suite accounts.
Discovered Blake’s 7 is on britbox so I’ll be indulging in some great old sci-fi for the next little while. Along with Doctor Who and Star Trek Original Series, it’s one of the first shows to get me hooked on sci-fi. 📺
