Eight years ago I collected Ms Ali from a local cat rescue and brought her home. She promptly made herself at home and decided my lap or alongside my legs was her favourite place to sit and it remains so. It’s taken most of those eight years for her to grow into her big ears. 🐱🐈

A black and white 1yr old tuxedo cat called Ali sitting in a man’s lap. He’s wearing black shorts and white T-shirt. She has big wide green eyes, long whiskers and ears that look too big for her. A black and white 9 yr old tuxedo cat called Ali is sitting in the classic cat loaf on top of a big black box. She has big green eyes looking at the camera.

As I get older I increasingly understand why my grandmother used to have a little nap around 2pm most days.

Being helpful quota has been exceeded. Try again next week.

An enamel badge pinned on a cream coloured jacket. The badge is a black cat with big open eyes sitting behind the words - NOPE not today

Public holiday so a morning walk instead of an afternoon one. Admittedly to have a coffee and an Ekka (strawberry and cream) muffin.

Offset by the 40min walk there and back I tell myself.

All things in balance I tell myself.

A table in a cafe with a muffin in baking paper wrap in the front of the photo. A large smear of creamy icing with sliced strawberry on top. Behind is a latte in a glass. In the background is the counter and cabinet with treats.

I’m early to lunch so ordered an old fashioned and pulled the notebook out. I always carry a field notes size with me ready to jot things down.

It’s great for helping to process thoughts and get them out of my head.

I can revisit later rather than have them crashing and bouncing around in there.

🚌 Getting the 50c uber to lunch with a friend.

🍷 Middle of my five day long weekend. Time to head out and meet a friend for a long lunch.

😠 Present Peter is cranky with Past Peter’s decision to not buy snacks when doing the grocery shopping.

Having a five day long weekend thanks to two days of leave and a Wednesday public holiday.

Have a few things lined up to do on other days but the rainy weather today is perfect for my Saturday plan: stay home, don’t talk to people, reset the very drained social battery.

I’m located in the diagonally opposite far corner to the exit door. We have automatic lights which turn off if no movement. Everyone else has gone and the rest of the floor is in semi-darkness. I shall now play the game of trying to activate as few lights as possible as I leave.
