🍿 Dune: Part Two - he’s not the messiah he’s just a very naughty boy β˜…β˜…Β½

A rectangular image with a review of the movie Dune: Part Two (2024). The movie poster is on the left and the review on the right side. Across the bottom is a rating of Poor Okay Good Great with Okay selected. The review reads: I think I'm a bit out of step with the general consensus on this one. It's visually spectacular and I'm glad I saw it on the big screen but it's longer than it needs to be and clearly setting up for a third movie. There was a meme doing the rounds on instagram that is the scene from Life of Brian where he tells his followers he's not the messiah. The meme subtitle was Dune Part Two spoilers without the context and it was spot on. I prefer the first movie over this second part.

🍿 Watched Lift (2024) β˜…β˜…

A rectangular image with a review of the movie Lift. The show poster is on the left and the review on the right side. Across the bottom is a rating of Avoid Okay Good Great! with Avoid selected. The review reads: If you’re on the couch on a Friday night and can’t find anything else to watch then this will do, you’ll miss nothing if you go to sleep. A wannabe Ocean’s movie it comes nowhere near. There’s a setup for a second one but Netflix should save their money.

πŸ—³οΈ Time to do the civic duty and vote in the local council elections and then continue on my afternoon walk.

We have reached the point in the local council elections where supporters of two of the three major parties are arguing on the community Facebook page about which party first put water bowls for dogs outside the prepoll venue. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Thankfully election day is tomorrow.

🍹 Sunday afternoons are for going down the rabbit holes of new watches and fountain pens while sipping a G&T. πŸ–‹οΈβŒšοΈ

🚴 Little ride around the river to blow the cobwebs out.

I love pens. I like a nice fountain pen but also a rollerball. I have to hold them though and feel the grip and weight, see how they write, before I can buy. This is a problem when I live in Brisbane, which, despite being the state capital, has only one decent pen shop. πŸ–‹οΈ

🚢 Afternoon walk along the river to balance the 3hrs spent watching Dune 2.

The truth may be out there but sometimes it's just a truck.

πŸ“Ί Finished watching Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…Β½

A rectangular image with a review of the Netflix series Avatar The Last Airbender (2024). The left third contains the series poster and the review is in other two-thirds. Across the bottom is a rating of Poor Okay Good Great with Great selected. The review reads: I'm a fan of the animated Last Airbender and was quite pleased with this live action remake. The casting is good and if you quibble that X character doesn't look the same as the animated one then I'd say you went in determined to not like it and looking for faults. The episodes are well paced and consistent to the story and it's good to see another two seasons approved. You may not plan to binge watch but you will probably find yourself doing so if you're a fan of the animated version.
