🍿 Rewatched Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) ★★★★★

A rectangular image with a review of the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The show poster is on the left and the review on the right side. Across the bottom is a rating of Avoid Okay Good Great! with Great! selected. The review reads: One of my favourite movies and I’ve watched it so many times. It’s an almost perfect buddy movie without the two actually being buddies. Candy’s quiet emotional baggage slowly revealed as the movie goes on and Martin’s gradual resignation and acceptance of his fate entwine so well. The gags and humour are classic '80s and you're either going to laugh all the way through or cringe, no in-between.

🍿 Watched The Death of Stalin (2017) ★★★★

A rectangular image with a review of the movie The Death of Stalin. The show poster is on the left and the review on the right side. Across the bottom is a rating of Avoid Okay Good Great! with Good selected. The review reads: The cast is predominantly made up of comedians, which seeps through into the way they present the characters and the writing helps it along. Clearly aiming to try and show communist Russia as being run by people with gutter smarts rather than actually being smart, their hunger for power the only reason they do what they do. I had this as a three star but then Jason Isaacs appeared as the general and it went up to four stars.

🍿 Watched Argylle 2024 ★★½

The review reads: Well this was a bit of fun. At times I thought it was going to slip down to the level of humour seen in Austin Powers but it stayed the course. Nothing particularly stand out but nothing awful. Some light entertainment.

Stuck in time due to childhood trauma is the easy way to describe the complex emotional turmoil slowly unravelling for him.

🍿 Watched Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) ★★½

A rectangular image with a review of the movie Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The show poster is on the left and the review on the right side. Across the bottom is a rating of Avoid Okay Good Great! with Okay selected. The review reads: It’s fine, there are laughs, things blow up, the actors work well together, it leaves it open for a second movie. A pretty standard action/comedy outing by Guy Ritchie. Be good if he could stop trying to pump out so many movies and maybe just take a bit of extra time with each one to lift the quality.

🍿 Rewatched Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1968) ★½

Across the bottom is a rating of Avoid Okay Good Great! with Good selected. The review reads: It’s not too bad if you’re looking for something based on factual events with a bit of dramatic licence to pad out the plot. I enjoyed it, wouldn’t put it on the watch again list though.
